The basics
What is Countam?
An all-in-one accounting and business platform built for Nigerian SMEs. It handles sales, expenses, payroll, inventory, tax tracking and reporting — in one place, with one login for your whole team.
Who is it for?
Founders, finance teams and accountants running Nigerian businesses doing roughly ₦50m–₦5bn a year — retail, professional services, schools, hospitality, logistics and light manufacturing.
I'm not an accountant. Will I cope?
Yes. You record sales and expenses in plain language; Countam does the double-entry bookkeeping correctly behind the scenes. Your accountant gets the clean books; you get the clear dashboard.
Getting started
How long does setup take?
Basic setup: 20–60 minutes. Full setup with customers, vendors, products and opening balances: 1–3 days depending on how ready your data is.
Can you set it up for me?
Yes — our done-for-you onboarding covers chart of accounts mapping, product setup with tax tags, opening balance imports, and customer/vendor/product imports via templates. See the Implementation Sprint add-on on the pricing page.
Can I import data from Excel or another system?
Yes, via import templates — and our Data Migration service can move your history from Excel, Sage, QuickBooks or similar so your reports have context from day one.
The 60-day trial
Is the trial really free? Do I need a card?
Really free, and no card. You get full access to every module for 60 days. We remind you at 14, 7 and 1 day before it ends. If you don't subscribe, nothing is charged — there's no card on file to charge.
Why 60 days instead of 14?
Because accounting proves itself at month-end. Sixty days lets you close two full months, run payroll cycles and see a real VAT position before you spend a naira.
Which plan is my trial on? How many users do I get?
The trial isn't tied to any plan — you get every module and up to 10 users for the full 60 days. Invite your accountant, your cashier, whoever you need. If you subscribe, you choose the plan that matches the team you actually used — and we'll recommend one from your real usage if you're unsure.
What happens to my data if I don't continue?
You have 30 days after your trial or subscription ends to export everything. After that, your data is securely deleted.
Security & compliance
Is my data safe?
Countam is NDPR-registered with a named Data Protection Officer. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, backed up, and hosted on secure cloud infrastructure with strict access controls.
How does Countam handle the e-invoicing mandate?
Invoices are issued with Invoice Reference Numbers (IRNs) in line with the NRS e-invoicing framework under the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025. Large taxpayers are already live, ₦1bn+ businesses went live in July 2026 with enforcement from January 2027, and smaller businesses phase in through 2027–28. With Countam you're compliant before enforcement reaches you.
What taxes does it cover?
VAT, WHT and PAYE tracking with tax-ready reports, plus e-invoicing (IRN) support. Your accountant can file from Countam's reports directly.
Can I control what my staff sees?
Yes — role-based access (Owner, Accountant, Manager, Cashier, Stock Manager, Payroll Admin), OTP on sensitive actions, and a complete audit trail of who did what, when.
Support
What support do I get?
Email and WhatsApp support, Monday–Friday 9am–5pm WAT, from a team in Lagos that answers in plain language. We aim to respond within 3 hours (12 hours maximum). Training includes in-product videos, live demos and webinars.
Can my accountant use it too?
Absolutely — give them their own login with the Accountant role. Many of our customers were introduced by their accountants.
